Nearby village of MontefrioCortijo Sophia is approximately 10 minutes to the nearest town of Montefrio, which is recognised as being one of the prettiest towns in the western reaches of Granada province enjoying an impressive setting at the foot of the Sierra de la Parapanda. Lost in the rolling hills of olive groves, Montefrio stands well away from the region’s beaten paths and has managed to conserve much of its traditional charm. There is a variety of shops, restaurants, supermarkets and bank machines for your convenience.

Alcala la Real
The larger town of Alcala la Real is about 20 minutes away. This town is an active agricultural and commercial centre with numerous shops, most of which are concentrated along Calle San Fernando. The town is overlooked by a Moorish castle, La Mota', which was reclaimed by the Christians in the fourteenth century and has wonderful panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

Alhambra - GranadaGranada
The city of Granada, home to the famous Alhambra is about 40 minutes drive and offers a feast of culture, beautiful architecture, a wealth of restaurants and  a vibrant nightlife.

Other Places of Interest

The Sierra Nevada mountains (pictured behind Alhambra above) are 20 minutes from Granada and offer lots of outdoor activities including skiing (see our links page).
Also nearby is the nature reserve of El Torcal Park.
Lake Iznajar is about 30 minutes drive and has a popular beach for swimmers and water sports.
The closest golf course is near Granada which is about 35 minutes drive away.
Las Alpujarras is about 90 minutes away and is situated in the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The beautiful white villages of Bubion, Capileira and Pampaneira are an absolute must to visit and offers an extremely memorable day in the mountains.
